The aim of this trial is to develop new methods that can be used to measure the quality of intraocular lenses. These artificial lenses can be used in patients with eye conditions.

The study consists of 2 visits, each lasting approximately 2 hours. During the first visit, you will be asked to undergo a number of eye tests while looking through a telescope system. You will be asked to provide feedback on what you see on a screen. These tests will be repeated 4 weeks later during the second visit, using different intraocular lenses.

This trial does not involve the use of study compounds, new procedures, or invasive procedures. No blood or urine samples will be collected.

• You are a healthy male or female.
• You are at least 55 and at most 65 years old.
• Both non-smokers and smokers are allowed to participate in this clinical trial.
• You can only participate in this study if you have good vision in both eyes, with or without glasses. In addition, you can only participate if you meet the following conditions:
  • You do not wear contact lenses more than half of the time;
  • You do not wear glasses with multiple prescriptions in one lens (such as progressive, bifocal, or multifocal glasses);
  • You do not have an eye condition (including dry eyes or eye problems caused by diabetes);
  • You have not had any eye surgery (including laser eye surgery);
  • You do not use any medications that affect your vision. Examples include beta-blockers, antihistamines, antidepressants, and certain painkillers or anti-inflammatory medications. Please contact us for more information.

Note:

• To determine if you are suitable to participate in this trial, you will undergo a medical screening. Depending on availability, this can be performed in Groningen or in Utrecht. During the screening, the researcher will ask you questions about your health, medical history, and use of medications. In addition, an eye test will be performed. No blood or urine samples will be collected.
• As a female you cannot participate if you are pregnant.

The trial consists of 2 visits to the research facility in Groningen. These visits last approximately two hours.
